Service Opportunity

Ladies Night Out
Our next “Ladies Night Out” is on Thursday, January 19th at 6:30pm. We will meet and dine at the Barnyard BBQ on Hospital Drive in Hurricane. Bring a white elephant gift to exchange.
New Adult Sunday School Class
Join teacher Scott Haas on January 22nd for a new Sunday School class based on the book, “The Bait of Satan.” His class meets in the church basement.
Young at Heart – 55 and older
Join us for our monthly luncheon for all who are Young at Heart. It will be held at the church at noon on Wednesday January 18th. Please bring a covered dish and a 2-liter to share. Pastor Melissa will be the guest speaker.
Christian Women’s Connection

Shuttle Parking
Thanks to those of you who park at Teays Valley Auto and the trucking business. We need more folks to participate. Those running shuttle vehicles drive with their lights flashing so that you may easily identify them.
Scrapbooking Friday Night, January 27th
Print out all those holiday pics and bring them to the church for a marathon scrapbooking session on Friday, January 27th from 6:00pm to 11:30pm. Bring snacks and a 2 liter to share!
Celebration of Life Sunday
Join us on Sunday, January 29th as we celebrate the sanctity of all life. We will be receiving a special love offering that Sunday for PJ Elkins, missionary to Latvia, whose life is dedicated to helping women choose life and to counseling those who are dealing with the trauma after affects of abortion.
Baby Shower-Save the Date
Join us on Saturday, February 25th at 2:00p.m. as we shower Josh and Pastor Wendy’s baby girl. Wendy is registered at Wal-Mart and Babies R Us/Toys R Us.
Searching for a King DVD’s Available
If you would like a DVD of the Saturday, December 17th or Sunday December 18th performance of the Adult Christmas program, “Searching for the King”, please place your order at the Welcome Center. The cost is $5.00 each.
New Six-Week Sunday Night Small Group!-”Winning Habits of Highly Effective Christians”
This class will explore how establishing a few simple disciplines and attitudes in our daily routines can lead to long-term “success” as a Christian. Learn what authentic success is and how other “highly effective” Christians have developed these “winning” habits. This class will be taught by John Kincaid and will meet at 6:00pm beginning Sunday night, January, 29th. Sign the registration sheet on the Welcome Center if you plan to attend.
Wednesday Night Guest Teacher in January
TVCOG welcomes Rev. Dianna Vinscavich as a guest teacher in the main sanctuary on Wednesday nights in January. She is teaching a four-week Bible study on Covenant Abundance as it relates to giving. The class is free, but if you would like to purchase a student workbook (strongly recommended) they are $10.00. Dianna has authored many Bible-related study-guides, taught many seminars, and since 2005, she has been the Pastor of the South Charleston Christian Church located in South Charleston, West Virginia. As part of the Joseph Prison Ministries, she teaches a Bible Class several times a month at the Lakin Women’s Correctional Center at Point Pleasant, WV. Pastor Melissa and four others from our congregation attended her teaching on this topic and wanted to make sure as many folks from TVCOG as possible could also benefit from this amazing class. ”Don’t miss it! CHILDREN’S MINISTRY NEWS
Preschool Singing Opportunity
All preschoolers (Ages 3-5) are invited to sing during the morning worship service on February 26th, 2012. The preschoolers will practice during Sunday morning and Wednesday night children’s church, but as with everything the best practice happens at home. CD’s and Lyrics are available in the preschool room.
Children’s Ministry 2012 Registration
We are asking that all parents fill out a new registration form for each child birth-5th grade. This will update our records with correct contact information, allergies, birthdays, and other special needs. Also, this includes a permission slip form that will cover all of 2012. Our goal is to have 100% of all children registered by the end of January! Incentive- All registrations turned in by January 31st will be entered into a drawing for an Applebee’s gift card for the family! Thanks for making this possible. Registration forms are located at classroom welcome desks and the children’s ministry folder in the entrance way.
All girls’ sleepover for elementary students!
The festivities take place at 7 pm. on Friday, January 20th until 9 am. on Saturday. The girls need to bring sleeping bags, pillows, PJs, a favorite snack/drink, a flashlight, and any favorite games. For more information, see Pastor Wendy.
Boys’ Night Out
All elementary aged boys are invited to a night out at the church on February 10th at 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There will be indoor and outdoor games planned for the event, as well as, Wii and XBox Konnect. Boys need to bring either a snack or drink. Pizza will be provided.
YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY
NEW College/Career Ministry
Join leaders Forrest and Lisa Hall on Wednesdays at 6:45 in the church basement for our new ministry to 18-25 year olds (post high school). Bring a friend and help make this much-needed ministry a great success.
