Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

I hope the week ahead is a blessed one! Be reminded that we are doing a canned and boxed food drive for the Community Cupboard this month. We have a goal of 1000 boxes/cans.

Praise the Lord for the 7 who were baptized on Sunday!

Also, Jim Fox gave his heart to Jesus on Sunday afternoon!! Look what the Lord has done!

Here are some highlights from Sunday’s message on the “Spirit of Adoption.”

“Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Romans 8:14-17

    1. The Spirit of Adoption says you are WANTED!

Ephesians 1:4-5 “For He chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.”

You, brothers and sisters are wanted! God has reached out through time and space and with great effort, intention and sacrifice through the death of Christ on the cross made a way for you to become His child! You were in His heart long before He was in yours! He did whatever it took so that you could be in His Forever Family!

    1. The Spirit of Adoption WELCOMES you to a new life.

God welcomes us into His family in style. I John 3:1 tells us God has lavished His love on us. We may feel unworthy at first. We may not feel good enough at first. We may wonder why God would treat us better than we deserve, but as we get inside His love, as we let Him tour us through life on His terms, we will be not only welcomed into His family, but we will be provided for, spoiled, given new spiritual garments to wear and will have the luxury of leaving our old lives behind!

People who are adopted leave a life to acquire a new one. The Bible says that same is true of us: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (II Cor. 5:17)

In this new life we are free from sin, and free from our shame and condemnation. Romans 8:1-2 tells us: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”

    1. The Spirit of Adoption promises you will be WORKED ON!

2 Corinthians 3:18 “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” God wants to do more than make us members of His family. He wants to make us like Jesus. Let Him work on you!

Have you been adopted by God? Are you fully surrendered to the process of transformation?

May God bless you abundantly!
